Tutorials extended part 2: Stealth Extended

For part 2 I decided to do the Stealth tutorial. I actually started this project back when the Stealth tutorial originally came out, which is a fairly long time ago, but for a number of reasons I never finished it.

But I decided I wanted to try some new things in Unity and I figured the Stealth project was as good as any for me to try these things in. My extended version still has the same premise. Your goal is still to get to the lift and exit the level, but I've changed a lot of the stuff in between. This project took a very long time and became an exercise in discipline just to get done in the end. But I'm fairly happy with it now. I managed to do a lot of the things I wanted to try.

You can try it here or download the entire project if you wish:

The original tutorial is available from the official Unity site here:
https://learn.unity.com/projects/stealth-tutorial-4x-only

If you want to follow the tutorial from scratch in Unity 5.x before you look at all the changes I've made to the project there's a support thread for doing the original tutorial in Unity 5.x here:

In case you missed part 1 of my extended series, it was based on the Surival Shooter tutorial:

The next entry in this series will probably be the Tanks tutorial if and when it comes out after Unite 2015 is done. The other offical Unity tutorials don't really interest me and they don't really come with any cool assets to work with either, which is the best part of doing these extended versions. The assets in the Stealth tutorial are brilliant and can probably be used in a number of different games.

About Øyvind Strømsvik (TwiiK)

I've been passionate about games all my life and started dabbling in game development about 15 years ago with BlitzBasic,... read more but I quickly lost interest and began doing 3d modeling instead. 3d modeling remained a hobby and I picked up game development again around the release of Unity 2.0. My driving force behind wanting to get back into game development was my lost interest in commercial games as they started appealing to a group of gamers I was no longer in. Indie games were the only games that still looked interesting, but at the same time some of them looked like they would be just as fun to make as to actually play. And many of them were made by just one guy.

Spot on writeup. I actually believe this website needs a great deal more attention. I'll probably be returning to read more later. Thanks for the info!

can anyone help me? i have followed the stealth tutorial and whilst it is patrolling, it is oblivious to the player, meaning that it is not noticing the player and not chasing the player. any suggestions on how to fix this?

@shelley: Your best bet is asking in the Stealth tutorial 5.x support thread on the official Unity forums:
